Maria Page has been nominated for Teacher of the Year

Maria has been teaching for four years at Blanchelande, where she is head of psychology with some theology on the side.

‘Miss Page has gone above and beyond to help me during my A-Levels,’ said her nominator for the Teacher of the Year award, Chenille O’Brien.

‘For the past four years, she always provided support both academically and with personal assistance during exams. 

‘She truly deserves this award.’

Maria was happily surprised by her nomination, but stressed how her students should take some recognition for themselves for working so hard.

‘My favourite parts about being a teacher are spending my days with such lovely students.

‘I really enjoy being in the classroom with them. 

‘They are so engaged, appreciative, and they teach me so much too. 

‘The most rewarding thing for me is seeing them accomplish something they didn’t feel as though they could initially, and I don’t mean just an academic grade. Sometimes it’s the small things that mean the most.’

My job doesn’t feel like a job. I never get Sunday blues or anything like that, I feel really lucky to do what I do.’
