Clare Giles ‘oozes praise, patience, love and compassion’ making St Martin’s Primary School community ‘a family where everyone is welcome’.
That’s according to nominator Jo Morgan who put Mrs Giles forward, three years after she gained the role of head teacher.
Mrs Giles has been teaching at the school for nearly four decades and has recently been at the helm of the School Street project providing a safer and more sustainable route to school for children.
While her projects are noteworthy, including her support for a fundraiser for children in war zones where the school stayed active for 12 hours, Clare has also been praised for her care of students.
‘Clare not only helps young children to learn but, more importantly, ensures that every child is happy and secure. She’s like everyone’s favourite auntie – always there for you,’ said Jo Morgan. ‘Our son used to really struggle at school and Clare was the person that he could always go to, the person that made him feel safe and not judged.
‘Every child needs a Clare Giles in their life, and my children are lucky and proud to have had Clare as their head teacher.’
