Kelly Powell has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award

A 'fantastic person and a real asset’ to St Sampson’s High School, Kelly Powell has been nominated for her role as English teacher and head of Year 11.

By the end of this year, Ms Powell would have been a part of the school’s faculty for a decade and upon receiving the nomination, had just bid farewell to another year group after they celebrated their prom.

‘My son has been supported by Ms Powell all through his school life at secondary - he has struggled massively with confidence and certain situations, which at times have been both exhausting and stressful,’ nominator Leanne Meader said.

‘Ms Powell has been absolutely amazing and 

stood by him and guided him in a way a parent normally would.

This selfless act has built trust and confidence in my son and I will be forever grateful for her support – she deserves this recognition.’
