Donna Lloyd-Dodd has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award

THE world of publishing in London was not enough for Donna Lloyd-Dodd who sought a job where she could travel for work and every day would be different.

One week volunteering in a school hooked the current Melrose Primary head of English and Year 2 teacher, who said it was 'the most rewarding job’.

Donna went on to study at Kingston and work at several schools in the UK, before packing up and moving to Guernsey in 2015 – initially working at Amherst before transferring to her present role in 2020.

‘Mrs Lloyd-Dodd is an incredibly warm and caring teacher,’ Kate Search in her nomination. 

‘Her enthusiasm shows through her students – my daughter is very keen to learn and looks forward to school because of Mrs Lloyd-Dodd.’

Mrs Lloyd-Dodd is in a unique position where she has taught the same class for two years on the bounce. She said it was a ‘great opportunity’ to see the children progress and pick up where you left off.
