Kate Walter has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year award

‘I’VE got to think of something more profound to say,’ said Kate Walter, a little shocked upon hearing of her nomination. 

Mrs Walter has been teaching for 27 years, with 24 of those spent on-and-off at the Vale Primary School. 

‘There’s been lots of changes, like technology, but the heart of the job has remained the same, it’s centred around the children.’ 

Maria Mourant nominated Mrs Walter for the award. 

‘Mrs Walter is an amazing teacher, my son says she’s the kindest and most caring teacher he’s had.

‘She is very encouraging and always brings out the best in the children.’ 

Maria’s son is normally quite shy, but Mrs Walter has put effort into getting him stuck in and involved in activities that he would have otherwise avoided, such as a trip to Herm for two nights in the summer. 

‘Mrs Walter is a one of a kind and deserves this award for all her hard work she puts in to make the children enjoy learning new things.'
