Kiera Vaudin has been nominated for Teacher of the Year

‘Kiera has dedicated over 30 years to teaching and 25 years at La Mare De Carteret, becoming a familiar face on the LMDC site since she began as Miss McCormack in 2004,’ said her nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.

‘Throughout her career, she has worked tirelessly to re-shape perceptions of LMDC students within the school and the broader community. 

‘Her contributions are numerous and impactful. Kiera served as head of year for 17 years, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication. She established a special form class for students struggling with school attendance, providing them with the extra support they need to feel welcome and valued. 

‘Kiera also contributed to a breakfast club assisting students with the best start to their school day. 

‘Additionally “Miss” went above and beyond by purchasing light-up sports equipment for students with visibility issues, fostering an inclusive environment.

‘Most recently, Kiera has taken on the role of overseeing post-16 education at LMDC, ensuring that students receive the guidance and encouragement necessary during their crucial final years of schooling.’

Several ex-students of hers followed in her footsteps and are now teaching locally, and many ex-students continue to call her ‘Miss’ well into their adulthood.
