Claire started out teaching in deprived areas of the UK, which is where her passion for equality in opportunities was set in stone.
‘No child should be limited by their socio-economic situations. Every child deserves the world,’ said Claire.
She has been teaching maths for 12 years, seven spent at La Mare De Carteret High School.
‘Claire is an all-round asset to La Mare,’ said her nominator Taylor Brehaut.
‘Without her the school wouldn’t cope. She is a light to many students, being a safe person to talk to who always makes time to be supportive.
‘She takes on many roles, from maths teacher, head of year and the most supportive and understanding teacher you will ever meet.
‘She has helped me, along with many others, to make it through the everyday challenges of high school and helped me continue to achieve in school when my mental health took a turn for the worse, she was always there for me.
‘She puts her all into everything she does, she is trustworthy, positive and has the prettiest smile that can brighten even the worst day, along with her compassion and her belief to make every child the best version of themselves you can truly feel the radiating, long-standing love for being a teacher.’
