FOR the past five years, Lauren Gilligan has been the ‘biggest cheerleader’ for students at The Guernsey Institute.
Lauren works as a progress coach for the college, providing support for students and helping them overcome challenges such as building self-esteem, develop communicational skills or time management.
Rhian Le Page nominated Lauren as a result of her support both at college and outside of working hours if needed.
‘Lauren always comes into college with a smile and a positive attitude and tries to put a smile on everyone’s faces,’ she said.
‘As a progress coach you can tell that Lauren has college students at the heart of what she does and takes time out of her day to do things with students that bring them joy whether that’s having a game of basketball, going on a walk in the fresh air or having a chat with them in the corridor to make them laugh – I don’t think I would have got through college without her.
‘I am really thankful for everything she has done and she has inspired me for when I go into my dream job that I care and help people as much as she has helped me.’
