THE Pride Angel of the Year award can be given to a host of angels from the Guernsey community and not just a solo angel, according to Kita Smith who has nominated the team of ‘absolute angels’ from the Roustel Ward, which helps care for patients with dementia.
The ward specialises in handling dementia patients who have ‘highly complex needs and behaviours that pose significant challenges.’
Kita’s grandpa was admitted from the Tautenay Ward earlier this year and since then, the staff have been welcoming and caring for the whole family.
‘Even if they are so busy, they take the time to check in on my grandpa and my gran, offer my gran a cup of tea and make sure everyone visiting is OK,’ Kita said.
‘They are flexible with family arrangements and have allowed my baby to go up and see my grandpa.’
In her nomination, Kita emphasised that it was not just one person who made the visits easier, but the whole team.
