‘Dr Daish has been - and still is - one of the most patient, non-judgemental caring doctors you will ever meet,’ said her nominator Emily Nuttall.
‘Having had a massive relapse with my trauma, eating disorder, suicidal thoughts and self-harm, I was broken and lost in the pain and darkness.
‘But Dr Daish has and still is such an empathetic doctor and does not rush you. She works to give you the best support, looks at the whole person and has continued to stand by my side.
‘She allows me to take my “I’m fine” mask off and be the real me.
‘I am forever grateful to Dr Daish for continuing to be my light and hope, saving and changing my life for the better.’
‘I can’t take all the credit,’ Dr Daish said upon receiving news of her nomination, stressing that she works as part of a team.
She estimates that up to 50% of her consultations are about mental health, saying that ‘You can’t not be aware of it.’
Dr Daish is conscious of mental health being over-medicalised, and advocates for making lifestyle changes to ‘find what works for you’.
‘We can’t all live for the next holiday.’
