THE Adult Learning Disability Outreach team represent the ‘true values of equality, respect and accessibility at all times’.
These qualities that the team has shown for nearly a decade of working together have prompted a nomination for Angel of the Year to ‘celebrate the team’s excellence’.
‘In providing and developing person-centred bespoke packages of care to people with a learning disability, the team strive to support people as per their needs and wishes,’ their nominators said.
‘Underpinning their care – they embrace reasonable adjustment in their practice where it’s necessary to achieve good outcomes for people as working with people is not without its challenges, and at times, the team have to respond to emergency situations, whatever they may be, in addition to their work loads.’
The team not only works to ensure people with a learning disability have options and equal access and involvement in the community, but also they work to improve a person’s independence and self-esteem through assisting with tasks such as attending appointments or financial support.
‘They work consistently, creatively and passionately – it is the exemplary service the Learning Disability Outreach Team provides for our community.’
