Bulstrode Ward has been nominated for the Angel of the Year

‘One cancer diagnosis in a family is stressful, two is unimaginable, but I’ve honestly never felt stressed out dealing with Bulstrode as they really go above and beyond,’ said nominator Hannah Edmonds. 

Both her dad and her boyfriend have been undergoing treatment at the cancer wing of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, Bulstrode Ward, over the past few months.

‘They have been such a huge help this year to two of the men I love most in the world. 

‘What stands out about them is how wonderfully kind and calm they are, even when patients don’t necessarily feel that way. 

‘It must be an emotional job much of the time, yet the atmosphere in Bulstrode doesn’t reflect that at all. 

‘In fact, Dad said as much as he was glad to finish his treatment, that he would miss the Bulstrode staff.’

‘Being diagnosed with prostate cancer came as a huge shock, swiftly followed by fear when I was told I would be having chemotherapy,’ said their second nominator and Hannah’s dad, Dave Edmonds.

‘But from the moment of my pre-treatment visit that fear evaporated.

‘The Bulstrode staff, from reception to treatment to behind the scenes, do an amazing job with support and the right amount of humour.’
