Rosemary Willey and Alfie the Wag therapy dog have been nominated for Carer of the Year award

Rosemary and Alfie the miniature schnauzer have been at Wag for the past five years and work to help, comfort and talk to those who need it. 

‘Rosemary has such patience, kindness, empathy, compassion and understanding,’ said Emily Nuttall, their nominator. Emily has known Rosemary and Alfie for four and a half years and feels that they have provided immense emotional support to herself and others. 

‘Rosemary and Alfie the therapy dog feel like my extended family,’ said Emily as Rosemary and Alfie have saved her from incredibly dark times. 

‘They bring joy into lives and save lives; they are one in a million.’

‘I’m quite astonished,’ said Rosemary when she heard about her nomination. Rosemary feels that the people she meets are the most rewarding thing and the relationships built with herself, and Alfie shows how much an animal can do for someone. 

Alfie has brought a significant difference to Emily’s life as she believes Rosemary and Alfie have bought out the best in her and she doesn’t know where she would be without them.
