Joanne Melia has been nominated for Carer of the Year award

Joanne has been working at the States of Guernsey Health and Social Care for five years and is an inspiration to everyone around her, empowering and supporting family and friends. 

‘Jo is an angel on earth, she puts 110% of her heart and soul into every aspect of her job,’ said Joanne’s nominator, Tracy Halligan, who has known Joanne for three years.

Joanne is an inspiration to everyone as someone who goes above and beyond for those who need her help, learning new skills to care for the people she supports, in turn enhancing their lives so they can live the best lives possible. 

Joanne absolutely loves her job, enjoying being able to make someone’s day better and supporting the people she works with. 

‘Jo has overcome a lot of personal challenges to become one of the most amazing, understanding, compassionate, empathetic, supportive ladies I have ever had the privilege and pleasure to work with,’ said Tracy.

‘I’m shocked, quite embarrassed actually,’ said Joanne when she heard about her nomination.
