Emilia Fernandes has been nominated for the Carer of the Year award

‘Emilia Fernandes stands out for her exceptional professional skills and remarkable human qualities, making her an ideal candidate for the best Carer of the Year award,’ said her nominator Aguiar Isabel.

Emilia has been working at the Chateau Du Village Nursing Home for 20 years. This is her third nomination for Carer of the Year.

‘Beyond her technical skills, she shines through her human qualities. She demonstrates deep empathy and compassion, allowing her to build strong connections with patients and their families. 

‘Her ability to provide emotional support, in addition to physical care, makes a significant difference to the lives of those she helps.

‘She also excels in communication knowing how to clearly and patiently explain medical procedures to patients and their relatives. 

‘She alleviates their concerns, answers their questions and ensures a complete understanding of the care provided. This transparency and effective communication skills strengthen patients’ trust and improve their overall experience.’

‘I was nominated last year, it shows I am doing a good job,’ Emilia said, thrilled with her nomination.

‘Every day I am happy, this is my second family since I’m from Madeira. I am very grateful to the Chateau. There is very good care here.’
