Maxine Watts has been nominated for Grandparent of the Year

Maxine is an incredible mother to four and grandmother to 10, all under the age of seven. She is completely adored by her grandchildren who lovingly call her Amma.

‘Her energy and enthusiasm for life is something we all benefit from,’ said Maxine’s nominator, who wanted to remain anonymous. 

Maxine continually selflessly gives her time and resources to care for the grandchildren every week, providing support and energy for all the children.

‘She is never short of cuddles and kisses and her nurturing should be celebrated,’ said Maxine’s nominator.

‘I’m shocked, pleased and very dumbfounded,’ said Maxine when she heard about her nomination. 

Maxine believes that every child is a blessing and with each child there comes a chance to love your own children all over again. 

Maxine passes down traditions and heritage through cooking and languages, always interacting with kindness and compassion. 

She has taken all her grandchildren on 'amazing adventures' – to the beach, the Little Chapel and even go-karting.
