‘My parents will always go out of their way for the grandchildren and are always a massive help,’ said Lisa De La Mare, their nominator and daughter.
Ann and Andy became grandparents in 2021 and they have been nothing but amazing. In 2022 Lisa went through the loss of a baby and Ann and Andy were incredibly supportive, looking after Lisa’s three-year-old son while she was unable to.
In 2023 they welcomed their second grandchild who was born prematurely. Andy dropped everything to take care of Lisa’s son and Ann went over to England them to support them.
Lisa really feels her parents stepped up as grandparents, looking after the children and supporting them in any way they could, and continue to do so.
The children are very lucky to have Ann and Andy as grandparents and Lisa really appreciates how affectionate they are.
‘They make everyone’s lives a lot easier and I want them to know how important they are in the upbringing of their grandchildren and give them a massive thank you,’ said Lisa.
Ann told the Guernsey Press that it was most rewarding to 'see her grandchildren grow up, seeing their achievements and them setting new goals'.
