NEAVE CHATTING-TONKS, 17, has been nominated for the Young Achiever of the Year award, which is sponsored by St Pierre Park.
Having been diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven, she has remained positive and resilient.
In November last year Neave was given the opportunity to be the first islander to address the House of Commons. Speaking to almost 250 young people from around the UK and the overseas territories, she spoke on ‘the important issue of equality facing young people on my island today’.
Within her speech she addressed a rise in bullying in local schools and encouraged others to combat it and not be a bystander if they see discrimination taking place.
Neave is the chairwoman of the Guernsey Youth Forum which allows young people to connect with local businesses and key figures so that their voices can be heard.
She noted that ‘it is nice to see all my hard work paying off’.
