‘The Guernsey Sailing Trust is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion across the entire island’s demographic,’ said their nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘They provide accessible sailing and powerboating opportunities for everyone, allowing individuals to enjoy outdoor activities, breath in fresh air and experience the stunning east coast from a unique perspective.’
For their nominator, the trust stands out for the sheer range of groups it caters to. From the neuro-divergent community to people in recovery and people with Alzheimer’s, people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities are welcomed.
‘They have yet to encounter anyone they cannot assist in getting out on the water,’ they said.
‘The team at the Guernsey Sailing Trust is exceptional, fostering a culture of kindness, compassion, and understanding.
‘This ethos is exemplified by its dedicated manager Sarah, and extends through to its enthusiastic young volunteers.
‘Together, they create a supportive and inclusive environment. To ensure that everyone feels comfortable and confident on the water, the trust employs additional instructors for bespoke sessions and to assist those with special needs in regular classes.
‘They consistently go above and beyond to make sure all participants thrive.’
