Despite working as a progress coach for less than a year at The Guernsey Institute, Chris Bale’s efforts have been recognised for the Diversity and Inclusion award.
Chris is one of six coaches at the college and has provided a safe space for students to talk through their worries.
‘Chris has supported many students and even started a club called the Kindness Club,’ Shania Carre Rocha said in her nomination.
‘The Kindness Club supports students who are on their own at lunch and they can meet new people – the club has supported students in many ways like growing their confidence and having a safe space to go through their worries.’
In addition to the Kindness Club, Shania wanted to recognise Chris’ efforts after he advised her on dealing with grief.
‘In January 2024, I lost my grandma and he has offered me a lot of support because some days are more difficult than others,’ she said.
‘I think the college is very lucky to have Chris Bale working for them. He is always very cheerful and you can find him around the college singing.’
