Customer Service: Robert Steen

‘HE ALWAYS makes you feel welcome’ is how Margaret Allard described Robert Steen, of Patois Brasserie, who she has nominated for the Cherry Godfrey-backed Customer Service Award.

‘He opened his business in between the first and second waves of Covid 19 lockdown.

‘Against all odds, he has created a thriving business, all due to his friendly greeting, personal service and attention to all his customers.’

During the pandemic, Robert arranged takeaways from the brasserie, and deliveries for those who could not travel to it.

He also delivered prescriptions for St John Ambulance Service.

‘The lockdowns were a huge challenge but we’ve had enormous support from the locals which got us through,’ he commented.

‘Now we’re getting a few tourists and things are becoming like normal again which is great to see.’

Mrs Allard knew Robert before he took over the brasserie.

‘We know him as a friend, and also because he used to work at Les Cotils.

‘Before he came, the brasserie had just been left – there were no tenants in it.’

Margaret now visits two or three times a month, sometimes as often as once a week.

‘The food there is always good. We like his Sunday lunches, we go there for the roasts.

‘He also does nice afternoon teas. Sometimes we go with some people from church as well and have cake.

‘You are always assured of a cheery welcome and good food from a person who goes above all expectations to make your visit to the brasserie an enjoyable experience.’
