Three years ago, Kim Marquis was diagnosed with stage four metastatic breast cancer and receives chemotherapy every three weeks to keep the cancer stable for as long as possible.
This does not stop Kim as ‘she has a very busy household with three out of four children living at home, she works part-time at the post office, and she volunteers in the cafe at Grow,’ said her nominator Chantal Fallaize who has known Kim for twenty-three years.
Despite her battle with cancer Kim is always the first person to offer a helping hand to friends and family, never putting herself first.
‘Kim is inspirational, unbelievable and works and volunteers,’ said Chantal who is in awe of Kim’s determination and strength.
Chantal recently broke her femur and spent two weeks in hospital, during this time Kim more than willingly looked after Chantal’s dog and even bought her to see Chantal in hospital.
‘Kim is a true friend to many people and I for one couldn’t cope without her, I have never heard Kim complain about her cancer she is always upbeat,’ said Chantal.
