Emma was just 14 when she lost her hair resulting in significant effects on her mental health alongside losing sense of her identity.
‘It’s very exciting, it’s a privilege,’ said Emma when she heard about her nomination. Emma’s work with young people displays her wonderful soul and ‘building relations with young people,’ is her favourite aspect of her job.
‘Emma is resilient and wonderful, she has embraced her alopecia despite total hair loss,’ said Caitlin Grupping, Emma’s nominator.
Emma is constantly raising awareness, including leading a support group and has been featured on the radio raising awareness for alopecia.
‘She is not defined by her alopecia’ said Caitlin, who is inspired and in awe of Emma’s constant positivity and bright attitude.
‘Emma really seems to make a difference wherever she goes and is deserving of the recognition,’ she said.
