A ‘KEY’ reason for Guernsey Raiders Ladies bringing home the Siam Cup in 2024 was coach Steve Evans.
The head coach has been with the team for approximately six seasons and even though the most recent was not the smoothest of sailings, Steve’s constant support and dedication fuelled the team.
‘Steve has been an absolute rock for the Guernsey Raiders Ladies this season,’ said his team, who nominated him.
‘It wasn’t an easy season for us and he stuck by us every step of the way – his support to all the ladies, in particular all of the new players, is so appreciated.’
The Raiders Ladies said that Steve would be at every training session, rain or shine, dedicated on helping them to improve.
‘Not only that, but he gives us his weekends to travel to away games, supports us when we play at home, gives up hours outside of this to prepare feedback, review footage and plan sessions all while working a full-time job – his dedication to the team is incredible.
‘He never once gave up on his faith in us.’
