The Soil Farm has been making its presence known in Guernsey since 2019 and continues to do so very effectively by focusing on local food and encouraging locals to look at the food they are eating.
Growing and education is part of how the Soil Farm operates. With a focus on regenerative agriculture, by restoring the farm they can eventually attain true sustainability.
The Soil Farm believes the soil is the key to the entire food network both locally and globally, and the farm has developed a cyclical pattern where the waste on the farm becomes nutrients for either animals or crops.
‘The Soil Farm seems to be an incredible place where crops and animals are grown and raised in very healthy conditions,’ said its nominator, who would like to remain anonymous.
‘I’m taken aback, it’s wonderful to be recognised,’ said Sasha Marsh, farm manager and owner, when she heard about the nomination. ‘When kids come in and learn about where their food is grown and where their health and energy come from is the most rewarding thing, alongside working with animals all day.'
