Dani is a committee member of Living Streets Guernsey, actively campaigning for friendlier streets and public places for pedestrians or cyclists.
She helps monitor the community’s travel methods by counting the number of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to raise awareness for sustainable travel.
Described by her nominator for the Sustainable Hero of the year award as ‘a driving force behind sustainability’, Dani regularly walks or cycles to work and encourages others to do the same. For this year’s Alternative Transport Week, she got her entire office involved.
‘There was a car-parking area at the office full of bicycles, without any cars,’ said her nominator.
Dani has been working to measure her company’s carbon footprint with the intention of reducing it.
‘Her leadership is transforming the business into a model of corporate social responsibility.
‘Dani’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, coupled with her innovative approaches and impactful community engagement, makes her a true hero in the fight for a more sustainable future.’
One thing Dani said in particular stood out to her nominator.
‘People say that their individual efforts are not big enough to make a difference in the world, that Guernsey is not big enough to make a difference, perhaps even the UK. But, where does “not big enough” start? With each and every one of us.’
