Pride of Guernsey: Guernsey Music Service

‘AN AMAZING group of professional teachers’ is Roy Sarre’s nomination for the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution of the Year.

‘AN AMAZING group of professional teachers’ is Roy Sarre’s nomination for the Moonpig-sponsored Arts Contribution of the Year.
‘They are the dedicated team at the Guernsey Music Service under the truly creative supremo Mervyn Grand who, with carefully recruited and selected musicians, just draw out the voices and instrumental abilities of hundreds of their eager students,’ continued Roy.
The nominator cannot emphasise enough the work the service does.
‘Beyond the call of duty they arrange rehearsals, carry the instruments and kit, encourage the nervous, check the music, carry and organise the staging and chorus, conduct large and small groups to a very high standard and ensure the training groups and younger students become fully integrated, ambitious and give pleasure to parents, listeners and all-comers as well as camaraderie, almost incomparable to and beyond other institutions, for a lifetime. They do marvellous things for our island.
‘Please give the Guernsey Music Service their due – just once – as they celebrate their 40th year in the 2018-19 academic year. A wonderful way to start their celebrations.’
