Chris Stagg has been nominated for the Grandparent of the Year award, which is sponsored by Channel Islands Coop.

‘My dad Chris has been the most loving and devoted Pops since becoming a grandparent in August 2022,’ said his nominator, Laura Halford.

‘From building stair-gates from scratch to driving around the island to find anything we might need, he’s always there for us.

‘In May he stepped up to look after my daughter as I went back to work. He took this on while holding down a job, looking after a household and caring for my mum who has been hospitalised.

‘He even pops round before work to play with his granddaughter and is always on hand to take her to the park or to see her favourite wildlife.

‘He takes on any challenge we throw at him – particularly baby-led weaning – with a smile on his face, and we don’t know what we would do without him.’
