Iris Freight Shipping has been active since 2016 and sails every day of the year apart from Christmas Day, transporting the newspapers, personal items and even people and animals between Jersey and Guernsey.
‘A punctual, regular and reliable service to us all who wait eagerly to read the news,’ said Roy Sarre, their nominator along with his wife Maddie, who both think the Iris Freight is an amazing service.
The boat very rarely cancels due to bad weather or technical breakdown.
‘They are ready very, very early every morning without fail, just for you and me,’ said Roy.
‘My wife and I area just really impressed by what they do.’
If the Iris Freight was not so reliable, the shelves in Guernsey would look empty without the papers, said Roy.
‘It’s wonderful to be nominated, we pride ourselves highly on customer service,’ said David Nuth, one of the ship’s captains and managing director.
Iris Freight and the Chieftain V helps to connect islands having a nearly flawless sailing record.
Mr Nuth has been a captain on the ship since it started and says the best part is getting to their destination.
Aside from their newspaper deliveries, the Iris Freight team take passengers, including dogs, cats and birds, often from breeders to their grateful new owners.
