'DEDICATED’ Mike Froome has been nominated for the Emergency Hero of the Year award, which is sponsored by the Medical Specialist Group.
He was put forward by an anonymous nominator, who said: ‘Mike works for the Cardiac Action Group and is dedicated to teaching the community to save lives.
‘He works tirelessly around the island to offer free defibrillator training and raises awareness of life-saving equipment.
‘This has encouraged individuals and businesses to invest in defibrillators and has made people feel more confident about what to do during an emergency.
‘Mike is friendly and approachable and his extremely helpful training sessions have been accessed by individuals, schools and businesses.
‘Demonstrations were also made available on Restart a Heart Day, which also taught people the importance of learning to save a life, because anyone could suffer a cardiac arrest.
‘He has also been involved with creating a publicly accessible defibrillator programme which shows the locations of the island’s defibrillators.’
