THE team at the Pollinator Project have been nominated for the Aon-sponsored Sustainability Hero of the Year award.

The nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous, praised their work with schools and the environment.

‘They have pioneered a lot of new ways to make the Bailiwick more aware of how important the pollinating insects in our gardens are.

‘Their app, Bumblr, is a particular stand-out,’ they said.

‘It allows users to list when and where they saw one of the species of bumblebee in the Bailiwick.

‘They have used it to track more than 10,000 sightings of bumblebees in one year so far.

‘The Pollinator Project use their platform to inform and promote an environmentally friendly attitude to young people.

‘Their outreach with the schools on the island is admirable, as it is so important to make sure the young people on the island know how important it is to protect the environment.

‘They make their initiatives fun and informative for the kids.’
