THE ORGANISERS of a ‘much-needed day of celebration’ have been nominated for this year’s Overcoming Adversity Award, sponsored by Close Finance.
The Guernsey Together Festival organisers provided relief for islanders after the challenges of the pandemic, an anonymous nominator said.
‘After a difficult couple of years where many felt anxious and isolated, the Guernsey Together Festival has provided the island with a much-needed day of celebration and fun.
‘From finding a suitable venue, drawing together local bands, and getting the message out there, the festival organisers have been dedicated to giving back something to the island after some challenging times.’
2022 was the festival’s second year of running and next year the event will span two days.
‘The festival has gone from strength to strength,’ the nominator added.
‘I think the organisers deserve this award because they have worked past the difficulties of Covid and have harnessed the Guernsey Together spirit to create a memorable event that is quickly becoming a favourite date in many people’s diaries.’
