THE ‘truly amazing’ staff at the Roustel Ward have received several nominations for the Angel of the Year award, sponsored by Ravenscroft.
Roustel is a 15-bed ward which provides care for dementia patients with complex needs.
Nominator Jo de Garis said her family was initially nervous when her dad was diagnosed with dementia and had to move from home to Roustel Ward.
‘We soon discovered a team of professionals who we consider more like members of our extended family,’ she said.
‘Every resident is treated with the utmost care and respect and the mutual feeling of warmth is plentiful.
‘Dad loves the staff and his reception of them – with claps, smiles and laughter – is wonderful to see.
‘The staff notify us immediately if an incident of note has happened to Dad. Facilities on the ward are constantly being enhanced, such as the introduction of a tea room (formerly a staff room), where residents can spend time with
their families in a more private setting.
‘The staff’s fundraising efforts for the ward are tireless – always trying to fund new experiences for the residents.
‘We are so very happy with the care which Dad receives at Roustel.’
