STAFF at Bougourd & Harry, one of Guernsey’s oldest retail businesses, have been nominated for the Customer Service of the Year award, sponsored by DWA.

STAFF at Bougourd & Harry, one of Guernsey’s oldest retail businesses, have been nominated for the Customer Service of the Year award, sponsored by DWA.

Bougourd & Harry was established in 1925 as a traditional family-run hardware store, having been run by three generations of Bougourds.

The staff were put forward by Peter Bean, who commended the shop for the way customers are helped.

‘Every time I get served there the staff always go the extra mile to help in any way they can,’ he said.

‘If they have not got what I want, they will tell me where I might get it.’

The business was established by current owner Alan Bougourd’s grandfather.

There are currently seven staff at the shop.

Mark Stanford, who manages the hardware store, said he was pleased to have received the nomination.

‘It is always nice to be appreciated,’ he said.

‘We try our best.’
