‘ABSOLUTELY phenomenal’ Fiona McGinn has received several nominations for the Teacher of the Year award, sponsored by HSBC.
Mrs McGinn has been teaching at Les Beaucamps, where she is head of history, for six years.
She has been teaching for over 20 years.
She was put forward by one of her students, Leanne Sarre, who said: ‘She always, always comes into school with a bright, positive attitude and never fails to make anyone smile or laugh.
‘The way Mrs McGinn has helped shape all of her students, including me, is absolutely phenomenal and there is no one better we could ask for.
‘Having her as one of my main teachers has been amazing.
‘I have gained so much confidence within her lessons and I know that I can always go to her whenever I need something.
‘Mrs McGinn always tends to make her classroom feel safe and ready to learn. She’ll give her own time to her students to help them study, revise and just understand some of the work that we’ll be doing in her lesson.’
Another nominator, Annabel Fenn, commended Mrs McGinn for supporting her both academically and with her emotional and mental health.
‘She is very kind and caring and goes above and beyond for her students. I believe that more teachers should be like her,’ she said.
'She deserves this award because she is our hero and she deserves all the recognition that can be given to her.'
