THE Sylvans Sports Club centenary presentation and award evening sub- committee have been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year award, which is being sponsored by Sure.
The committee, which is chaired by Jason Le Ray, helped to organise celebrations for the club to commemorate 100 years since its inception.
In March, the club recreated its first ever game, against St Martin’s in the Priaulx League, with a large crowd showing up to support the event.
‘In June, a centenary celebration and presentation evening was held in a marquee on the club’s main pitch which was attended by some 270 people,’ said nominator Nigel Baudains.
‘Those attending included many of the squad who played in the 1993/94 season when Sylvans won the Priaulx League for the first time.
‘Dennis Burns was compere for the night and The Rubix provided live music to finish it off.
‘It was a great evening.’
