ELIZABETH BRACKLEY has been nominated for the Grandparent of the Year award, sponsored by the Channel Islands Co-operative Society.
Elizabeth was nominated by her son Drew, who has just become the father of a baby girl, due to the constant support she gives him and his partner.
‘She has helped me and my partner with everything from getting supplies to changing nappies and even taking her granddaughter to give us time to catch up on sleep. It’s her first grandchild – it doesn’t matter what she’s asked, she’s happy to do it.’
Drew said Elizabeth is always making sure they have everything they need and even babysits so they can spend time with some of their older children.
‘She always texts us and asks if we need any milk and pops to the shops for us.
‘She babysat for us the other night so we could take the other kids to the beach.
‘She’s very supportive.’
Elizabeth said she is very excited and proud to be a grandmother, but can’t fully explain how she feels.
‘I am very surprised and proud to be nominated – I am excited to be a grandmother and am very proud of them both – to be honest I can’t explain how I feel,’ she said.
