ANDY and Elaine Creed have been nominated for the Channel Islands Co-op-sponsored Grandparent/s of the Year award. They have 11 grandchildren – Owain, Gwen, Roman, Ella, Jacob, Darcy, Harry, Theo, Louis, Kinsley and Martha.
Nominator Emily Mackay said: ‘Their grandchildren are the centre of their universe and there is nothing they wouldn’t do for them, including inviting Ella, Theo and their mum and dad to live with them whilst they were looking for a new house to move into.
‘With nine of the 11 grandchildren living on the island, they are kept busy helping out with lots of childcare and school holiday childcare so that their children and partners can continue to work, making their lives a lot easier, especially in the summer months.
‘They are very much deserving of this award because of all their help and all of their grandchildren are obsessed with going to grandma and grandpa’s house to play whenever they can.’
Second nominator Sarah Ogier added: 'Our 10-week-old daughter was born with unexpected health complications and they have been a massive support in every way, caring for our three other children to enable us to travel to Southampton for medical appointments.'Our children adore them and want to spend time with them given any opportunity - in my six-year-old's words: 'They are kind, they are the best and they let us have ice cream when we want one.'
