Carer of the Year: Jackie Davies

‘SELFLESS’ Jackie Davies has received several nominations for Carer of the Year, sponsored by Specsavers.

Mrs Davies has been providing 24/7 care for her husband Les, to whom she has been married for 51 years, since he fell ill.

Nominator Paul Darlington said: ‘Jackie is an exceptional lady who, at the age of 77, is a full time carer for her husband Les, who has Alzheimer’s and needs constant attention.

‘Les is regularly active in the nights and Jackie regularly has little to no sleep and still manages to function. She is a grandmother of four young boys and always finds time to spend with them.

‘She is amazing. I could not do what she does and I don’t think too many people could.’

Another nominator wrote: ‘Jackie is one of the most selfless, kindest, beautiful people that I’ve met.

‘Nothing is too much trouble and she always puts everyone before herself, she would do anything for anyone. Jackie is a fantastic mother, grandmother and wife, she has been caring for her husband at home every day since he fell ill, she is so strong and such an inspiration to me and some many others.’
