‘UNDERSTANDING and approachable’ Gemma Domaille has been nominated for Teacher of the Year, which is sponsored by HSBC.
Miss Domaille started her teaching career at the College of Further Education, where she worked for a few years.
She now works at Les Beaucamps High School, where she helps students who struggle with their learning. She has been teaching there for two years.
She was put forward by student Annabel Fenn, who said: ‘Gemma Domaille deserves the Teacher of the Year award because she is always very bubbly and makes the class laugh a lot during her lessons.
‘She works hard to make sure all students are engaged and reach their full potential.
‘She takes the time to help with challenges that the students face and helps with their mental health.
‘She’s very understanding and approachable.’
Miss Domaille, who mostly teaches maths and English, said she loves her job.
‘Some days are really challenging and some of them are really rewarding.’
She said the best part of her job is the variety and how she is able to support students who struggle with their learning.
