Nominator Liz Stonebridge applauded the team’s tireless work to support not only patients but also their loved ones
‘Les Bourgs Hospice is 30 years old in 2021 but Jo Boyd and her nursing team have recently endured some of the most challenging times since its doors opened.
‘They have done so with the utmost professionalism and positivity,’ says Liz.
‘Our hospice nursing team is exceptional in what they do, not only providing individual, specialist care for patients but also much needed support to families and loved ones.
‘Covid-19 restrictions had a heart-breaking impact on the team as it inhibited them in being able to deliver that care in the normal way.’
Despite Covid-19 restrictions limiting visits, they ‘worked above and beyond what their job asks of them’ to make a difference to so many people’s lives.
Due to building works, the team had to move patients to the hospital.
‘This further challenge required resilience, as the team worked hard to adapt to their new working environment and showed great commitment and fortitude throughout.’
‘Les Bourgs Hospice is such an important facility for our community and it is their efforts that have highlighted it is the people, not just the place, that makes it so special.’
