CRICKETER Nathan Le Tissier has been nominated for the Sports Volunteer of the Year award, which is sponsored by Sure.
Nominator Harry Rhydwen-Jones said that Nathan has a ‘fantastic character’ and has fully dedicated himself to his sport.
‘Nathan has excelled in Evening League cricket this season, finishing the year as the top run scorer in the top senior division despite being just 19 years old,’ said Harry.
Nathan started cricket when he joined Elizabeth College at the age of 11 and now trains both in a group and in one-to-one sessions.
Harry described the time and effort that Nathan has put into the sport and believes that he should be recognised.
‘Nathan has demonstrated superb commitment to the sport, training multiple times a week to try and constantly improve, which has paid off considering his amazing performances,’ he said.
Nathan now holds a leadership role, which he said he was ‘thrown in at the deep end’ but is well supported and ‘enjoys the challenge’.
Harry added: ‘Nathan has also taken on the role of captain at Indies which is a huge responsibility, especially as a teenager. This demonstrates his excellent character.’
