‘My parents deserve this reward because since I have had my two children, who both have learning disabilities and muscle problems, they have been there for me looking after my children so I can have a break,’ said nominator Kirsty Symphorien.
‘My mum has been away with me and my daughter while she had tests to find out what condition they both have and gave me so much support. Also learning how to sign so they can communicate with the children, they are amazing parents to cope with my challenging children.
‘They will try and do everything they can to help and I’m so grateful for this. They also listen to me when I feel it’s getting so hard – they always offer a shoulder to cry on or just give me some advice.
‘They are the best parents I could ever wish for.’
Kathleen said: ‘We look after the grandchildren at least twice a week. Apart from that we help out whenever else it is needed.’
