‘HE’S the kind of person that local sport can’t do without.’
St Martin’s AC club director Ben Hunter has been nominated for the Sure-sponsored Sports Volunteer of the Year award following his efforts in helping to run his local football club over the past few years.
‘Ben seems to be involved in everything that happens at Blanche Pierre Lane, home of St Martin’s,’ said the nominator, who wishes to remain anonymous.
‘If he’s not coaching minis, he’s playing, if he’s not carrying the sponge bag for the Priaulx he’s running the bar in the clubhouse,’ they added.
A St Martin’s AC footballer, who also wishes to remain anonymous, also came forward to speak about Hunter’s impact on their time at the club over the past few years.
‘Ben is an extremely funny and kind individual who has helped me to grow as a footballer, coach and person over the past couple of seasons.’
‘When I’ve been having a bad game, he is always there to give advice. When I’ve played well, he’s always the first to sing my praises. He is a top bloke and a great asset to St Martin’s,’ they added.
