SARAH WINSALL, deputy manager at Guernsey Cheshire Home, has been nominated for the Ravenscroft-sponsored Angel of the Year award.
‘Sarah is the most caring person to everyone. Everyone loves her. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her. Sarah does everything to raise money for the home as it is not state funded.
‘Sarah deserves the award because of how dedicated she is to Cheshire Home,’ said nominator and Cheshire Home volunteer Maggi Pryke.
Sarah has been working full-time at the home for four years.
Due to the fact that Guernsey Cheshire Home receives no funding from the States of Guernsey or Leonard Cheshire Disability, the home must raise £1.1m. every year to keep up the care and service it provides.
It achieves this through the kind donations of islanders and an extensive calendar of fund-raising activity.
Some of the fundraisers that Sarah has been heavily involved in include summer fetes, balls and car raffles.
‘I absolutely enjoy working at the home. I play an active role in fund-raising. We recently just got an interactive table for the residents.
‘I don’t do it for recognition, I do it to raise the profile of the home’, said Sarah.
