DANNY PONTE, 15, has been nominated for the Cherry Godfrey-sponsored Customer Service of the Year award for his work at Nelio’s Deli.
Nominator Rose Corbet said: ‘for someone so young, he’s just amazing.
‘Danny is extremely polite, always dressed smartly and he will always have a chat with you when he brings out your coffee.’
Danny has worked for his dad at the family business since he was 13.
‘It’s a nice atmosphere,’ he said.
Rose is a regular customer at Nelio’s Deli and often brings her dog with her. ‘We always go on a Sunday and so frequent the business at least twice a week for sure.
‘I only knew Danny from going to Nelio’s but he’s such a pleasant boy. He will always ask about what we’re doing for the rest of the day, or if we’ve been to the beach,’ she said.
Rose added: ‘We don’t have to ask, he remembers our order each week and brings out water for our dog.’
When asked what he enjoys most about his job, Danny said that he enjoyed serving people and being friendly to the customers.
‘I always chat with the customers and mingle around if it’s not too busy.’
‘I personally feel Danny is worthy of the Customer Service of the Year award,’ said Rose, ‘I can’t describe it, he’s just lovely.’
