The couple have been nominated for the Customer Service of the Year award, sponsored by Cherry Godfrey.

‘For many years we have taken all of our watch repairs to Mr Oliver,’ said Linda. 

‘His skilful professionalism surpasses all of our expectations, often undertaking very complicated repairs.’

‘We took a Cartier Tank watch to him which I had given my husband on our wedding day.

‘The battery had leaked inside and ruined the mechanism.

‘Initially, we took it to the Cartier shop but they didn’t want to know.

‘Tom spent weeks sourcing parts and got the watch going again. I wear it now.

‘He did the same with my beloved father’s watch.’

Mrs Laine added that the watch was worn every day by her late father from when he was 21.

‘He went out of his way to transform it into a beautiful, gleaming timepiece. It was like a new watch.’

Mrs Oliver handles the running of the shop, while Mr Oliver is the jeweller.

‘They are absolutely delightful, polite, charming people, always smiling no matter how busy they are.

‘They truly deserve a Pride of Guernsey award.’
