Diversity and inclusiveness are something which is the norm for Alex as she helps people live the life they want.

Alex’s anonymous nominator said: ‘Nurses can get sick too. I had to press pause on my nursing fob watch and resign from my nursing career for a time. When well again, I was fortunate to be directed to the charitable organisation that is the Guernsey Employment Trust. Here, my path luckily crossed with Alex.’

Despite worries of no longer being able to work as a nurse, a plan was devised to get back to it.

Employers themselves are educated through the GET so that any particular needs are worked out to find a best fit.

‘Alex, as my employment support officer, looked beyond my diagnosis and together we were able to reintroduce me back into nursing. Consequently, for over a year now I have successfully held down a nursing role with Alex supporting my employment needs from afar and educating employers accordingly.’

Personal connection with clients demonstrates that each case is taken individually and the rights of the individual are respected.

‘She is so in tune with me and has reinstalled my confidence for me to believe that I can still nurse when the correct and necessary adaptions are made. I could not have been matched with anybody better. Alex is most certainly my guiding angel.’
