THE Supported Living Team help adults with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible in their own flats at Le Grand Courtil, St Martin’s.

A total of 30 people work for the SLT, which is part of Health & Social Care, looking after 26 service users.

Assistance is given in areas such as meals, medication, personal care, social outings or medical appointments.

The team’s nominator for Carer of the Year thinks the SLT is worthy of recognition for its endeavours.

‘During lockdown we had to change the way we work and, even though we were under a lot of stress, the team stayed together and did the best they could to keep the service users and others safe,’ she said.

‘Behind all the hard work there is a lot of planning process.

‘But our main aim is to work in a person-centred way so each individual is treated as unique and in the best way to meet their needs.’
