LAST year a man collapsed suffering a cardiac arrest while on a cycle ride. Sue Lesbirel helped save his life.

Ms Lesbirel, who works as a senior staff nurse at Tautenay Ward, a mental health assessment unit for older adults with dementia and other mental illnesses at the Oberlands Centre, came to the man’s aid when he collapsed outside her home and along with her neighbour they successfully resuscitated him and remained with him when the ambulance service took over.

Her nominator for the Ravenscroft-sponsored Angel of the Year Award, Sian Ogier, said she believes Ms Lesbirel deserves this award for the care and compassion she shows both in and out of work.

‘She is very dedicated, showing respect and compassion to our patients on a daily basis,’ she said.
